Boone County Distilling Company

bcplfusion.bcpl.org_repository_distillery.jpg For over a century, the leading industrial concern in Boone County was located along the banks of the Ohio River in Petersburg. The roots of the Petersburg Distillery (also known as the Boone County Distillery) were grounded in a steam mill formed about 1816 and distillery added in the mid-1830s. For the duration of the 19th century, the mill and distilling complex was continuously expanded by a succession of influential proprietors. In the last decades of the 19th century, it was the only distillery in Boone County and was also one of the largest in the nation.
