Fightin' Words: Kentucky and Louisville Basketball

Description: More than 100 years ago, the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville met for the first time on the basketball court. In 1983, the intrastate rivals faced each other in the original “Dream Game.” Fightin’ Words authors, Ryan Clark of Burlington and Joe Cox of Bowling Green, will share the inside stories of these specific games and other notable meetups that helped form this infamous rivalry. Other tales include how Louisville coach Denny Crum out-recruited Joe B. Hall for the athletes in inner-city Louisville, how Rick Pitino had a dominant tenure at UK, then left to become the Cardinals’ coach, how John Calipari brought UK back on top, and much more. Clark and Cox will read from, discuss and sign copies of their book.

Spots are available on a first come first serve basis. About 8 a.m. a board will be placed on an easel outside the main entrance. Attendees are invited to take a number and then wait in their warm cars for the library to open. Numbers will then be called in order.
